Now, you’ll find resale, thrift, and consignment shops in most cities and towns including Detroit. There’s a passionate group in the style and fashion community that says Detroit can be a fashion hub and a great place for designers to make a mark.

To that end, the Detroit Garment Group Guild recently held an event dubbed the  FashionSpeak, one-day networking and conference for Michigan’s fashion industry. They got to have a sense of what exactly Detroit’s fashion scene looks like.

1. St. Vincent de Paul

The store is located at 3000 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI. They open from Monday to Friday between 9 am to 3 pm. The store has been in operation for over 130 years. 

Inside the store, are two sections. The first is about the size of a convenience store and houses things like knick-knacks and home decor, while the second has mostly clothing.

They have a where you can donate and also keep up with their programs as well as request assistance if you need it.

Proceeds from each purchase of low-priced mattresses, coats, silverware, toys, and more will be donated to one of the many charitable programs the store supports.

2. Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center

Being in operation for the last 7 years, Eldorado General Store is a triangle-shaped 1870s flat iron brick and mortar boutique that houses the treasures from the road to Eldorado.

They sell locally made items, vintage clothing, accessories, trinkets, crystals, handmade jewellery, candles, tarot books, herbal plant offerings, and altar items.
