20 US Celebrities Who Died Too Young


 

The death of any young person is tragic, when stars die before their time, the ripple effect can be felt around the world. Celebrity deaths, in particular, serve as an unsettling reminder that our time on Earth is limited. None of us will live indefinitely. And none of us, no matter how wealthy, famous, or talented, are immune to bad luck. However, the stories of these 20 celebrities can teach us to appreciate the time we have.

Here are some of the 20  US celebrities who died too young. They include the following;

1. Heather O’Rourke

Unfortunately, the world will never know if Heather O’Rourke would have become an award-winning actress because she died when she was only 12 years old before her acting career could begin. If you don’t recognize O’Rourke’s white-blonde hair and blue eyes, you might remember her from Steven Spielberg’s Poltergeist: “They’re here!” O’Rourke also appeared as a guest star on several TV shows, including Happy Days. O’Rouke died on January 31, 1988, in San Diego, of septic shock and cardiac arrest caused by a misdiagnosed congenital intestinal stenosis. She died while being operated on.

2. Lee Thompson

Lee Thompson Young, best known for his lead role in The Disney Channel’s “The Famous Jett Jackson,” showed a lot of promise as an actor, earning a Young Artist Award nomination. Young has appeared in several films and television shows, including “Friday Night Lights” and the TNT drama “Rizzoli & Isles,” but his professional success has not been enough to keep his chronic depression at bay. Young, who was seeking treatment for his bipolar disorder, was discovered dead in his Los Angeles apartment on August 19, 2013. An autopsy revealed that the 29-year-old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death was determined to be a suicide.

3. Rob Knox

Rob Knox, who played Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, died at the age of 18 in 2008 outside a London pub. Knox, despite his location, was not a victim of an overdose or addiction. Knox was stabbed to death while trying to protect his younger brother during a fight. Sadly, he died at the start of what could have been a promising career. He’d been in small television and film roles since he was 11 years old, and he was eager to reprise his Potter role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

4. Cameron Boyce

Cameron Boyce, a Disney Channel star with epilepsy, died in his sleep at his North Hollywood home on July 6, 2019, after having a seizure. He was only 20 years old. The coroner later confirmed what his family suspected: the “Descendants” star died of “sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.”

5. Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy, who demonstrated great range as an actress with roles in everything from “Clueless” and “8 Mile” to TV’s “King of the Hill,” was pronounced dead on arrival on December 20, 2009, in her Los Angeles home after suffering from pneumonia and drug-related heart failure. Simon Monjack, the actress’s widower, died of pneumonia-related heart failure in the same home less than six months later. Brittany was 32 years old when she died.

6. Tupac Shakur

Tupac Shakur’s popularity has endured despite his death in a hospital six days after being shot multiple times by as-yet unidentified assailants in Las Vegas on Sept. 13, 1996. His album “All Eyez On Me” is one of the best-selling rap albums of all time. Tupac was only 25 years old when he died.

7. DJ AM

DJ AM was found dead in his New York apartment on Aug. 28, 2009, just over a year after narrowly escaping death in a plane crash that killed four other passengers and only he and drummer Travis Barker survived. DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein), who dated stars like Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore, was known for his ability to creatively mix classic pop songs with hip-hop and heavy metal tracks. He was 36.

8. Aaliyah

Aaliyah, whose hit “Try Again” became the first song to top the Billboard Hot 100 solely based on airplay, died on August 25, 2001, when her plane crashed en route back to the United States from a video shoot in the Bahamas. An investigation into the crash revealed that the plane was carrying too much weight. Aaliyah was only 22 years old.

9. Bobbi Kristina Brown

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s tragic death at the age of 22 coincided with the death of her mother, Whitney Houston, just three years earlier. On Jan. 31, 2015, the late singer’s only child with R&B star Bobby Brown was placed in a medically induced coma after being discovered face down in a bathtub at her Atlanta home. After being admitted to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, she was transferred to Emory University Hospital for the best neurological care available in the area, but it was later determined that she should be taken off life support and placed in hospice care. On July 26, 2015, she died. The coroner determined that marijuana, alcohol, morphine, a cocaine metabolite, and medications were present.

10. Nipsey Hussle

Nipsey Hussle (real name: Ermias Davidson Asghedom) was shot and killed outside his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. The rising star, who was known not only for his music but also for his strong commitment to his community and local philanthropic efforts, was 33 years old.

11. Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison, the frontman and primary lyricist of The Doors, began his career on the Sunset Strip and had a significant influence on the music scene. On July 3, 1971, he died in his Paris apartment at the age of 27. Although no autopsy was performed because there was no evidence of foul play, it is widely assumed that he died of a heart attack caused by a heroin overdose.

12. Mac Miller

Mac Miller was a well-known rap artist and record producer. In 2007, he quickly rose to prominence in the rap scene, and if you were a high school student in the early to mid-2000s, you probably heard kids in the halls singing to his lyrics and obsessing over his catalog.

 Mac struggled with substance abuse, which was a recurring theme in his music. Unfortunately, he died in 2018 as a result of an accidental drug overdose of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol.

13. James Dean

With his iconic performance as troubled adolescent Jim Stark in Rebel Without a Cause, James Dean became the poster child for rebel spirits (1955). He also appeared in the films East of Eden and Giant. He was named the 18th best male movie star of Golden Age Hollywood by the American Film Institute.

He, however, died in a car accident when his Porsche collided with another vehicle at a California intersection.

14. River Phoenix

River Phoenix was an American actor who debuted at the age of ten. His first notable role was in the 1986 film Stand By Me, which remains one of the greatest coming-of-age films of all time and has earned cult classic status. He is also the older brother of Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix.

River Phoenix died shortly after arriving at The Viper Room, a club owned in part by Johnny Depp. He was to perform with the band P, which included musicians such as Flea and John Frusciante. He walked outside and collapsed on the sidewalk after complaining that he wasn’t feeling well. His death was caused by an acute overdose of several drugs. He died at the age of 23.

15. John Belushi

John Belushi was an actor, singer, and comedian who rose to prominence in 1975 as the seventh original cast member of the landmark comedy skit show Saturday Night Live. On the show, he created and cultivated several comedy sketches and characters, including a sword-wielding samurai, a killer bee, a cone-headed alien, and his most famous character of all: Jake Blues of The Blues Brothers.

According to People Magazine, Belushi spent an exorbitant amount of money on drugs every week in the early 1980s. He was reportedly partying with Robin Williams on his final night of life, but he was found dead in his hotel room the next day of an apparent drug overdose. Regrettably, John died in 1982 at the age of 33.

16. Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix, one of the greatest guitarists and musicians of all time, died far too young. His imagination and drive were unparalleled. During his career, he collaborated with The Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Band of Gypsys. He had many hit songs that fused rock, funk, and blues. Jimi died tragically young. He was found dead in a London apartment at the age of 27. This was September 18, 1970.

17. Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin rose to become one of the world’s most successful and well-known rock stars at a time when women were rarely considered successful in that genre of music. She sang rock, soul, and blues music with a smokey mezzo-soprano voice and an electric stage presence.

Joplin rose to prominence in 1967, and by 1969, she was one of the biggest names to appear and perform at the historic Woodstock festival. Even though she died at the age of 27 from an accidental drug overdose in 1970, she is still one of America’s best-selling artists today.

18. Brad Renfro

Brad Renfro is one of the ’90s’ biggest child stars, who died at the young age of 25. At the age of 11, he landed a big break in the 1994 suspense thriller The Client, alongside Hollywood legends Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones.

Renfro went on to star in over 20 feature films, including blockbusters such as Tom and Huck and Sleepers. Brad began to make headlines in the late ’90s after a string of arrests and stints in drug rehabs. In 2008, he tragically lost his battle with addiction and died of an overdose.

19. Cory Monteith

Cory Monteith, a singer, actor, and musician was found dead of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 31. Cory’s breakout role on the hit show Glee was as the all-American, boy-next-door Finn, and fans couldn’t wait to see what he would do next in his career.

Unfortunately, even before starting on Glee, Monteith had been struggling with drug addiction and had to return to treatment in 2013. Cory died on July 13, 2013, as a result of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol.

20. Anton Yelchin

Anton Yelchin was an American actor best known for his roles in the 2009, 2013, and 2016 Star Trek remakes. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s after appearing in Steven Spielberg’s television miniseries Taken. Yelchin received the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actor in 2002, the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Ensemble Cast in 2009, and has been nominated for five other awards. On June 19, 2016, the popular young actor was discovered dead as a result of a freak accident in which his car pinned him against a wall and killed him. Yelchin died at the age of 27.
