Beyoncé Knowles is an icon who time and again has been equated to divinity within pop culture. Her constant boundary pushing artistry has made her one of the most predominant female artist in the 21st century. She is one of the world’s greatest performers and entertainers. Beyoncé has been coined the name ‘Queen Bey’ due to her success in the music industry. Mrs. Carter has portrayed an astounding sense of work and professionalism that increases in standard each time.

She has mastered the art of showmanship, skill and an impeccable creative vision, seen in her powerful vocals and complex dance routines that is unrivaled in the entirety of show business. From Crazy in Love to Break My Soul, Beyoncé has been able to maintain a streak of hit after hit as seen in her entire solo career not saying that anything she released as part of Destiny’s Child was anything short of  exemplary itself. It is therefore going to be a tad difficult to list just thirty songs out of her discography, but here are 30 most iconic Beyoncé songs of all time;

30.If I Were A Boy

This is a song in which she shows off her creative writing prowess with how she thinks outside the box, reversing the gender-roles and depicting how she would be a better boyfriend than most of the men out there.

It is a beautiful slow, guitar-jam which debuted at number 100 on US Billboard Hot 100 and very quickly rose to number 3 on the chart. It was originally written and performed by BC Jean in 2008. Beyoncé’s version did so well making it her 4th number one on the Hot Digital Songs chart.

29.Run the world (Girls)

In this one she so effortlessly takes the lead and makes it her own sound as it was initially Major Lazer’s Pon De Floor. It peaked at number 29 on US Billboard Hot 100 reaching top 10 in Australia, Belgium, Japan and all around the globe.

28.Dangerously in Love

This is the 12th song on her debut solo album, also called Dangerously in love which she released when she was only 21. This song peaked at 17th on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is said to be a modified version of another in Destiny’s child album “survivor”

27.All Night

All Night, from the quintessential album Lemonade released in 2016, is a groovy love song that illustrates love as  difficult yet wise and regardless of going through all the hardships and  disappointment still being able to come through the other side is what matters.

26.XO

It was the number one single from her self-titled album and is said to be dedicated to her fans and her husband. XO peaked at number 66 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in January 2014 although it was termed as the most radio ready track in the album.

25.Ring the Alarm

From her second studio album B’Day this single debuted at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and was composed by Sean Garret and Swiss Beatz. It is a favorite of many and rightfully so.

24.Drunk in Love

Drunk In Love was once termed Bey’s sexiest song. Featuring her husband Mr. Jay-Z, they are said to have struck gold with this duet because her songs are not known to be super explicit so we were in for a good shock with this one. The song won Best Collaboration at the 2014 BET Awards and two Grammy Awards at the 57th annual Grammys.

This one features rapper Kendrick Lamar and is said to be an anthem dedicated to black women. It was recorded for Beyoncé’s sixth studio album Lemonade and managed to appear on various music charts. It peaked at number 35 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 40 in the United kingdom.

22.Don’t Hurt Yourself

On her album Lemonade Don’t Hurt Yourself is one of Beyoncé’s powerful songs about speaking up for oneself and not letting hate control your life. Featuring Jack White the song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 28 and the Hot R&B/Hip-hop songs chart at number 16.

21.Baby Boy

Featuring Sean Paul, Baby Boy is a song in which Beyonce incorporates reggae, dancehall and a dazzle of Arab into her otherwise R&B-filled discography. This is quite easily one of her most groovy songs.

Single ladies debuted at number 72 on the hot 100 chart issue on November 1st 2008. On December 6thit moved to number 2 and sold over 200,00 digital downloads. It is one of her most popular sounds of all time.

19.Diva

Released third from the iconic album Am…Sasha Fierce, Diva carries a message of female independence  and empowerment with a fan describing the song as “it makes you feel like you can take on the world.” It debuted on US Billboard Hot 100 at number 96 and peaked at number 19 on 7th March 2009.

18.Bonnie & Clyde

This was the first song Beyoncé ever  recorded with her then boyfriend now husband Jay which very quickly got to the top five of US Billboard Hot 100 list. It is more Jay-Z featuring Beyonce but legendary nonetheless. They were praised for their different but complementary music styles in the song.

17.Naughty Girl

This song peaked on 4th June 2004 shortly after its release to number 3 at the Hot 100. It is the fourth single from her album Dangerously in Love. Naughty girl brings about a disco vibe to the album and it just shows that Queen Bey really can do it all.

16.Me, Myself and I 

It is the third single from Beyoncé’s first solo studio album which got to number 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and earned Beyoncé the songwriter of the year honor at the 2005 ASCAP pop music awards.

15.Best Thing I Never Had

Released on June 1st 2011, Best Thing I never had was the second single from her album 4 and is said to have been inspired by the drumming on a 1985 song called The Show by Doug Fresh. It is a love song in which she displays her voice and a range of emotions from pain and hurt to “whatever, you’re missing out”

14.Hold Up

Recorded as the third song for her sixth album Lemonade, Hold up contains a sample of Can’t Get Used to Losing You by Andy Williams and it received a Grammy nomination for best solo performance at the 59th ceremony. It debuted and peaked on the Billboard’s Hot 100 at number 8 shortly after its release.

13.Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams was recorded for the album Sasha Fierce and was originally called Beautiful Nightmare which leaked online in March 2008. It is a song about how love can feel like a dream and as usual the vocals on it are nothing short of spectacular.

12.Love On Top

This song is from her studio album 4 and is a throwback to the 1980s R&B type. It showcases her vocal capabilities and versatility, positively surprising the critics. In the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards Beyonce performed Love on Top, propelling the song to top five in the charts.

11.Break My Soul

This one is the lead single from her most recent album Renaissance released on 20th June 2022 and on 8th August, it was at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 for two weeks straight. It samples Show Me Love by Robin S from 1992, a house song.

10.Partition

Partition was released in 2013 with Bey’s fifth studio album ‘Beyonce’ and it consists of two parts, ‘yonce’ and ‘partition’. It has since peaked at number one on the Us Hot Dance Club Songs and has been trending on TikTok as a drop dance move sound. It seems to be a fan favorite.

9.Irreplaceable

This was a song for her second album in 2006 recorded originally as  a country song but changed to a mid tempo RnB and pop infused sound. It contains a message of female empowerment as it tells the story of an unfaithful man. It went on to become the album’s most successful release and was nominated for the Record of the Year award at the 50th Grammy Awards.

8.Countdown

Countdown was in her 4th studio album, 4 released on 4th october 2011. It incorporates Hip-hop, reggae and funk and delivers a message of monogamy and self-love. Countdown peaked at number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart on 24th december 2011 for the week.

7.Black Parade

Black parade is a powerful song, one of many of hers, released in the wake of the gruesome murder of George Floyd and the upheaval that followed. It was surprise released on June 19th 2020 also known as Juneteenth, a day known to celebrate the end of slavery in the USA. 

The song received praise for its references to black culture, history and activism and obviously for Beyoncé’s performance of the hit. It was the most nominated song at the 63rd grammy awards and won Best R&B Performance making Beyoncé the most awarded singer in Grammy history.

6.Sorry

Sorry was released  from Beyoncé’s album Lemonade and its lyrics show the theme of unfaithfulness. It was termed as her most unapologetic song with self-empowering notes and ‘catchy lines’. It debuted and peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was later certified platinum for selling over one million copies in the United States.

5.Crazy In Love

This song features her  husband Jay-Z and is from the album Dangerously in Love, her debut solo studio album. It was a number one hit in the USA and the UK  and reached top ten in several countries around the globe. It was declared the greatest song of the 2000s decade by VH1 while Rolling Stone called it the greatest song of the 21st century all together. Crazy in Love won Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 46st Grammy Awards 2004.

4.Flawless

Stylized as ***Flawless, this song was released in 2013 from the album Beyonce. It also has two parts, ‘bow down’ and ‘flawless’ divided by a speech called We Should All Be Feminists.  It peaked at number 13 in the US and sold 67,000 digital records in its first week. It contains the lyric “I woke up like this” which has been trending for the longest time across all social media platforms. Also a fan favorite.

3.Halo

Halo was released in January 2009 as the album I am …Sasha Fierce’s 4th single which gives the impression of being behind the scenes of Bey’s life. The most powerful thing about this specific song is her unrivaled vocals. I mean we knew she was gifted but it is in this specific song that we are truly in awe of her talent. The music video features heartthrob and actor Michael Ealy which was a much welcome surprise.

2.Brown Skin Girl

The song features Saint Jhn, Wizkid and Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s child. It was released on 23rd june 2019 from the album, The Lion King: The Gift. It received numerous awards such as the BET HER Award, Soul Train Music Award for the Ashford and Simpsons Songwriters Award, making Blue Ivy  the youngest BET award winner of all time.

Its music video won Best Music Video at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards  and for this Blue Ivy received the Guiness World Record for the youngest individually credited winner at the Grammy Awards.

This was recorded for her album Lemonade in 2016. Formation is said to be one of her most important songs to this day. She celebrates her identity, culture and success as a black woman in the lyrics and is very unapologetic about it.

It received widespread praise for its cultural references and the music video was termed the greatest music video of all time by Rolling Stone. The song won all six of its nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards, was nominated for 3 Grammy awards from which it won one, Best Music Video.
