Demi Lovato Pronouns: Everything You Need to Know About Her Sexuality

Demetria “Demi” Devonne Lovato has openly declared her pronouns and sexual orientation without fear. When interviewed in May 2021, Demi Lovato shared that she identifies herself as a non-binary. She says that she prefers to be referred to by the pronouns they or them rather than she or her. She, therefore, expresses the desire for both men and women.

Previously, Demi Lovato had been identified as a straight woman. She had been in romantic relationships with the opposite gender. For instance, Demi Lovato was in a relationship with Max Ehrich until September 2020. The two lovebirds had gone to the extent of getting engaged but that did not stop Demi when she knew what was better for her. She dissolved the engagement. “I met someone and I got into this straight relationship, and that was great, but that led me to ignore all parts of myself that I didn’t think was digestible for my partner at the time, who ended up becoming my fiancé’” she said.

Lovato has a history of being open-minded as she advocated for the rights of members of the LGBTQ+ community. That was before she announced that she would change her pronouns to they/them. She has gone on to establish a group of friends who belong to the LGBTQIAP+ community. She believes that the friends in the community have become more of a family than friends and that she is comfortable identifying as a queer woman.

But when did Demi Lovato get the idea to change her sexuality? What was her childhood like, and where did she grow up? Well, Demi Lovato has always put everything in the open for the world to know. She grew up in Texas in a Christian family. However, she says that she was always uncomfortable and ashamed of her sexuality. She had an attraction to women but would often hide it. As a child, she watched “Cruel Intentions” and the scene that awakened her feelings was when she saw Sarah Nichelle Gellar and Selma Blair kiss. She right then realized that she had an attraction to women.

While on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Demi Lovato spoke openly letting everyone know that indeed she is pansexual. “I’m fluid now, and a part of the reason why am so fluid is because I was, like, super closeted off,” she said on the podcast. She told Rogan that she is proud of the LGBTQIAP+ community and would protect her friends at all costs. To seal the discussion, Lovato opened up on her previous relationship with a man which ended, opening her eyes to a new adventure.

Demi Lovato has gone on to hook up with a woman and said that it is a lot better than dating a man. She had been uncomfortable getting intimate with the men she hung out with but now feels comfortable with a girl as her partner. She opened up to her parents in 2017 that she is a queer woman and has also released songs that suggest the same. In her song “Tell me what you want,” the lyrics show that she intends to end up with a woman.
