Emma Chamberlain’s Road to Internet Fame
Emma Chamberlain is better known as YouTube royalty. She got started on her internet personality in 2017 when she uploaded her first video. From there onwards, her fame continued to rise and millions of her subscribers have watched her over the years evolve for the better. I admire so much how she managed to rise to such fame from just a YouTube channel. Believe me, I have tried being an online content creator and it is not quite a walk in the park. Hence seeing Chamberlain’s growth is not only admirable but inspirational. Let’s take a look at Emma’s road to internet fame and how it all started.
1. She started by sharing the struggles she was experiencing in school

In one of her early YouTube videos, Emma reminisced on how she started on the internet platform and how it all stemmed from the struggles she was experiencing at school. She explained that,
鈥淥ver the summer, I was posting almost every day for a while there. I was vlogging on my vacations. I mean, I was hardcore on that YouTube grind, like you best believe. I loved it. It was so great, fully pulled me out of my depression, one hundred percent. It kind of gave me this feeling of hope that depression wasn鈥檛 ruling my life. I had something else that was making me happy, and that was YouTube. And it still is, to this day, continues to do that for me 鈥� and I鈥檓 eternally grateful.鈥�

2. Emma left school to do YouTube full-time

After the success of her first YouTube video, Emma Chamberlain made the decision to leave her private school and concentrate on YouTube full-time. During an episode on ‘Call Her Daddy,’ she looks back on that journey and word for word says this:
鈥淚 had an interesting experience with high school because, basically, I was a really academically-driven student. I was obsessed with the idea of going to a super prestigious college, and I was willing to do anything to get there,鈥�
She recalled that she decided to go to an all-girls Catholic school and just after a year she hated it so much. She realized she made a big mistake and that’s when she made the decision to focus on YouTube full-time.
3. Her Parents supported her achieve her internet fame

As Emma puts it, her parents are not the traditional kind and they are the cool kind, to say the least. They helped Emma achieve her internet fame by not even seeing it as a big deal when she decided to leave school to do YouTube full-time. She describes her parents as individuals who didn’t consider themselves to be parents. They had her because they wanted to and decided along the way they didn’t really fit the parent mold and hence couldn’t be the typical strict parents. Because of being so relaxed and supportive, Emma was able to achieve and live her dream.
4. She posted her first YouTube video in fifth grade

Before becoming the YouTube superstar we know today, Emma Chamberlain explained that she uploaded her first ever YouTube video while she was in fifth grade. She explained this by saying, 鈥淚鈥檝e always looked at fame as an impossible thing. So, I was like, 鈥業鈥檓 not going to become famous from this.鈥� But, I was like, even just a few people commenting will make me feel good so鈥� post. And then, of course, nothing happened and then I deleted it, like, a week later.鈥�
Years later, she uploaded YouTube videos again and she said that at the time, she felt like she had nothing to lose as she was dealing with a number of issues. This time round she didn’t her video so quickly and unsurprisingly, that’s the video that was the beginning of her popularity.
5. She went viral a few months after starting

The first time Emma blew up on YouTube was about two or three months after she had just started. She has explained that going viral for her did not just happen overnight. It wasn’t really luck. She would post every day documenting an array of things like beauty and fashion, stuff that is happening in her life, and so on. Her July 2017 Dollar Store haul is the one video that did very well and that skyrocketed her popularity in the internet world.
6. The Internet Fame made Emma grow up so fast

Emma has opened up and admitted that there are moments in her life she has really regretted in terms of wishing she would have done things differently. One thing that kind of makes her upset to date is how quickly she had to grow up. She had to deal with grown-up stuff and make grown-up decisions because now the fame was expanding more and more and with it came decisions that needed to be made and logistics that needed to be followed in order to keep the popularity.

Emma Chamberlain explained that, 鈥淚 think it was one of those things where, you know, I鈥檝e been on the internet for so long that people know me as a teenager. I鈥檝e been really trying to grow in the public eye, in a way, because I can鈥檛 stay a teenager in everybody鈥檚 mind forever.鈥� I other words, her subscribers and fans have seen her literally grow, and with that comes a level of respect and support that you cannot find anywhere else.
8. Chamberlain at one point took a break due to mental health challenges

Between December 2021 and June 2022, Emma took a 6- months break from her YouTube channel so that she could focus on her mental health. She admitted in March 2022 while on her podcast known as Anything Goes, that the pressure of being a weekly YouTuber was not easy at all. It is the standard if you want to make it, but it is quite unrealistic and an impossible thing to keep up with mentally. Thankfully, Emma was able to return to the platform and made a huge comeback with her June 22nd, 2022 video titled, “What’s good in New York.” She is continuing to soar higher and that’s quite admirable.
9. Emma managed to make an exclusive deal with Spotify

In early 2023, Emma Chamberlain managed to make an exclusive deal with Spotify under a multiyear pact where the music platform became the exclusive home for her 鈥淎nything Goes With Emma Chamberlain鈥� podcast. In addition to this, the new episodes on Spotify were presented as video podcasts and the company said that they will 鈥渢ake Emma back to her vlogging roots.鈥� She admitted that,
鈥淪potify has played a huge role in developing my love and passion for podcasts and music, and I am consistently wowed by the way the platform continues to evolve. I couldn鈥檛 be more honored to be their exclusive partner, and work together to allow 鈥楢nything Goes鈥� to blossom in ways it couldn鈥檛 have anywhere else.鈥�
10. She started a YouTube Channel because she was depressed

Emma Chamberlain has admitted that after her sophomore year, she started her YouTube channel because she was quite depressed and by the end of that summer, she recalled ‘making money.’ In her own words, she explained,
鈥淛unior year, I was like, 鈥極K this is the year I take hard classes.鈥� I was taking three AP classes. Long story short, it was just so 鈥� I couldn鈥檛 do school work and YouTube. But I was like, obviously, schoolwork is more important.鈥�
From there onwards, she decided to take easier classes until when her YouTube continued to grow and this is what changed everything for her.
Emma Chamberlain proved that you can be anything if you set your mind to it. That hard work and resilience can make you be anything if only you are determined enough.
