Daniel Coulter Reynolds is an American singer, record producer, and songwriter and he is the lead vocalist of the pop rock band Imagine Dragons.

However, he became popular and was recognized after a few years of the establishment of the band.  He has collaborated with many other artists for various tracks of which some have been used in a few movies and series as soundtracks.

Moreover, many songs of Reynolds have held top positions on the Billboard charts and interestingly he created his own record label under the record company he had initially signed with.

And through this record label, he has found many talents and he is the recipient of the Songwriters Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award. So here are the top 10 facts about Dan Reynolds.

1. Dan Reynolds was born in Las Vegas

Reynolds was born in Las Vegas and he is the seventh of nine children of Christene M and Ronald Reynolds a lawyer and author. Both parents are natives of Nevada and Reynolds is a 4th generation Nevadan.

However, as a Boy Scout, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005 and he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When he was 19 years old he volunteered full-time as a missionary in Nebraska for two years.

2. He formed the pop rock band Imagine dragons when he attended Brigham Young University

Reynolds wrote the song 鈥I Bet My Life鈥 celebrating and reflecting on his enduring relationship with his parents.

However, following his graduation from Bonanza High School he attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas after losing his ecclesiastical endorsement for Brigham Young University and then transferred to Brigham Young University after serving an LDS mission where he studied communications, marketing, and music and excelled academically.

Moreover, while at BYU he formed Imagine Dragons and won the school鈥檚 battle of the band competition before leaving to pursue music full-time.

3. Dan Reynolds was Reluctant to become a Musician since one of his bandmates advised him not to do Music because he wanted to do Music

Dan was initially reluctant to become a professional musician partially because future bandmate Wayne Sermon had once told him: 鈥Don鈥檛 do music because you want to do music but do music if you have to do music鈥.

However, after he began attending Brigham Young University Dan found out that he could not 鈥do anything else鈥 and he committed fully to a professional music career.

Moreover in Utah Dan met and recruited drummer Andrew Tolman to form Imagine Dragons. With Dan as lead vocalist Imagine Dragons won Brigham Young University’s 鈥Battle of the Bands鈥 and other local competitions.

4. He Discovered the unsigned band X Ambassadors

In 2013 Dan discovered the unsigned band alternative X Ambassadors an American pop-rock band from Ithaca New York. Its members currently include lead vocalist Sam Harris, keyboardist Casey Harris, and drummer Adam Levin.

And their most notable songs include 鈥Jungle鈥, 鈥Renegades鈥, and 鈥Unsteady鈥. The band鈥檚 debut full-length album VHS was released on June 30th, 2015 their second album Orion was released on June 14th, 2019, and their third album Beautiful Liar was released on September 24th, 2021.

Moreover, after Dan connected with the band he brokered a record deal for them with KidinaKorber/Interscope Records.

And he co-wrote a few songs on their album VHS which has gone on to achieve Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America.

5. Dan Reynolds formed Night Street Records  

In 2016 Dan formed Night Street Records an imprint label under Interscope Records. Which is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group through its Interscope Geffen A&M imprint.

Interscope Records was founded in late 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a 20 million joint venture with Atlantic Records of Warner Music Group and Interscope Communications. Moreover, Dan鈥檚 first signing was by alternative hip-hop artist K Flay.

6. He organized the charity festival LOVELOUD

 Dan Reynolds organized the charity festival LOVELOUD that was held on August 26th, 2017 in Orem to 鈥fight against teen suicide and bring communities and also encourage acceptance of LGBTQ youth鈥.

The concert donated the profits to LGBT organizations The Trevor Project, GLAAD, and others.

However performing acts included Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, Krewella, Joshua James, and Nicholas Petrica of Walk the Moon. A second LOVELOUD festival was held on July 28th, 2018 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

An estimated 35,000 people attended the 2018 event and raised approximately a million dollars for various charities the event was live-streamed for free on YouTube and sponsored by AT&T.

7. Dan Reynolds credits Bands

He credits bands like Foster the People an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles California in 2009. Its members are singer Mark Foster, guitarist Sean Cimino, and keyboardist Isom Innis.

Foster founded the band in 2009 after spending several years in Los Angeles as a struggling musician and working as a commercial Jingle writer.

After Foster鈥檚 song 鈥Pumped Up Kicks鈥 became a viral success in 2010 the group received a record deal from Startime International and gained a fan base through small club shows and appearances at music festivals, and Mumford & Sons for bringing alternative pop music to a new level of commercial success in recent years.

8. He suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis and Ulcerative Colitis

Dan suffers from ankylosing spondylitis which he announced at Leeds First Direct Arena in 2015 during the band鈥檚 Smoke + Mirrors tour.

However, in 2016 he partnered with Novartis鈥檚 ThisASLife to raise awareness about the severe inflammatory disease. During the same year, he said in an interview that he had been heavily depressed for the past two years and often sees a therapist.

He also suffered from ulcerative colitis since the age of 21. Moreover, Dan aims to destigmatize and change how society sees depression and the act of seeking professional help.

In April 2018 he began to talk about his physical and mental health issues on his social media accounts and continues to offer encouraging messages of support to his fans and others struggling as well.

9. Dan Reynolds was invited to perform an Opening set for Nico Vega

Dan was invited to perform an opening set in 2010 for Nico Vega an American indie rock band formed in 2005 in Los Angeles California United States. However, this was when Dan met Aja Volkman the group鈥檚 lead singer.

Moreover, he asked her to help him finish some demos he was developing. The two began collaborating and formed Egyptian.

They recorded, produced, and independently released a four-track eponymous EP digitally and also have only performed this material once live.

10. Imagine Dragons and Tyler Robison Foundation help young people battling cancer

Since 2013 imagine Dragons along with the family of Tyler Robison formed and support The Tyler Robinson Foundation helping young people battling cancer.

And during the foundation鈥檚 2018 annual gala it raised 2.1 million dollars to support young people battling cancer.

Moreover Imagine Dragons have also partnered with Do The Write Thing a National Campaign to Stop Violence, Amnesty International, OneOrlands Fund鈥檚 and 颁谤补肠办濒别鈥檚.

Furthermore in 2015 Imagine Dragons released the track 鈥I was me鈥 with all proceeds going to the One4 project to help to flee refugees, particularly in the Middle East.
