Her cooking show began in 1993 with only 30 episodes made the first year. She is an expert when it comes to decorating, cooking, baking, or crafting. She is a fan of showing people the better way to fold a fitted sheet, frost a cupcake, and bake macaroni and cheese.

1.She has a famous Cooking Show

The Martha Stewart Show is a famous cooking show hosted by Martha Stewart. The show began in 1993 with only 30 episodes made the first year. After some time, Martha became popular and eventually caught the attention of other companies such as Procter & Gamble who wanted to advertise their products on Martha Stewart.

She is a talented cook which has ultimately helped to increase viewership. One of her favorite drink is the caipirinha, as she told Town & Country, which is a drink typically made with a fermented-sugarcane liquor, lime juice, simple syrup, persimmons, and lime slices.

2.She has a Degree In Economics

Martha Stewart went to Barnard College in New York City in 1957 and studied economics where she received her degree. However, she never worked as an economist.

Martha then moved to West Virginia and worked as a broker for the firm, Greenburgh after graduating from college. As she worked she took night classes at the School of Visual Arts in New York City but eventually began executing her business ideas.

3.She Has Her Own Wine Club

Martha already owns a lot of businesses but she also enjoys peoples’ Company. She is a fan of wine and decided to create a private wine club for other wine lovers. One can only join the club only if Martha personally invites you.

4.She was once arrested

Martha Stewart was convicted of four felony charges On June 17th, 2004 involving conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice, giving false statements, and committing perjury. She spent around five months in Camp Alderson West Virginia federal prison, a minimum-security prison that deals with female offenders, followed by five months of home confinement.

This was as a result of her lying to the federal investigators regarding an insider trading scandal. She has spoken about her experience in prison on different interviews. She stated that the belief that serving time thickens your skin is absolutely wrong.

When Martha arrived at the prison there was some confusion due to some missing paperwork which said that Martha should be assigned to a minimum-security facility in Florida instead of West Virginia.

Martha at the time of sentencing did not have an attorney present, a mistake made by the judge. She was sent to Alderson anyway, which caused Martha to be recognized as the first person to ever leave a minimum-security prison and return voluntarily.

5.Martha Stewart once worked on Wall Street

She got a job at a small company run by Andrew J. Monness, after she graduated from school. Between the years 1968 and 1971, Martha made over $100,000 a year on the stock exchange floor as a stock broker, according to Martha Stewart by Ann Kerns.

When Martha was hired, she didn’t yet have her broker’s license and had never worked on Wall Street before. Unlike these days, it was very strange for a woman to be on the floor of the NYSE, but Martha excelled and thrived in the intense environment.

6.She own her own Magazine

Martha Stewart has a very strong business mind and has one of the most thriving magazines which are published in 28 different countries, but only eight in the United States. The magazine first started in 1990 after being published by Peter Amsterdam who was a friend of Martha’s.

As of 2007 Martha bought back her magazine and is now she is in charge of publication herself. The magazine focuses on women’s lifestyle, homes, food, gardening, party planning, arts and crafts among many other things that interest Martha Stewart fans.

7.Her Autobiography Is A New York Times Best Selling Book

The book contains remarkable stories about how Martha became successful, her challenges, her rise through society and how she began her company. Martha Stewart has written a total of 97 books in total.

Her autobiography was released in 2005 and it made history becoming the first nonfiction hardcover book to debut at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. The book is called, Martha: A Story of Martha Stewart Living available in many bookstores and libraries across the world.

8.She has a Degree In European Art And History

Apart from her degree in economics she achieved in Barnard College in New York City in 1957, she added another degree in European art and history. She studied during night classes as she worked full time at a firm.

In 1964, she finished her bachelor’s degree at Barnard in European history and architecture. At the time, she lived in a cheap apartment in Manhattan with her then-husband, Andy and worked for nearly two years.

9.Martha Stewart started a Television Network

As seen from her history, Martha is innovative and creative when it comes to business. She has gone through so many business ventures and by 2004; Martha Stewart took it up a notch. Inspired by Oprah Winfrey, she started her she finally started a 24-hour company television network.

She hired a team of producers before launching to create quality programming that would attract viewers from all over the world. However, just three months into production ratings began to drop significantly. She then lay off some of the staff members she had originally hired.

10.Sleep Isn’t That Important To Her

According to Martha Stewart sleep isn’t really on top of her to-do list. Her daily schedule is usually packed and sleep for her is not really her priority.

 In a WebMD article about her health, she admits that she likes to get up early and feed her many animals, take a morning hike, and just get ready for her busy day. At night time, she likes to catch up on reading, as well as her late-night talk shows.
