With approximately 870,000 people, Indianapolis is known as the largest city in the U.S. Not only is it the second most populous city, but it also has a thriving arts scene filled with numerous performing museums, festivals, and art venues.

The city has the world’s largest children’s museum known as the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis which attracts visitors from all over the world. The Indianapolis Museum of Art is home to famous art collections, sculptures, and installations. Indianapolis has brought the most famous people to the United States. 1. David Letterman

He is an American television host, writer, comedian, and producer who has hosted late-night television talk shows including Late Night with David Letterman, and The David Letterman Show. He is known for having 52 Emmy Awards nominations which are among the most nominated people in history.

He received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor which is awarded annually by the John F. Kennedy Center in 2017. David currently hosts the Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.

2. Larry Bird

He is a former professional basketball player known as Larry Legend and the Hick from French Lick. Over the years, he has been regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

He has won three NBA championships making him one of the foremost clutch performers in NBA history. Larry was named one of the 75 greatest players of all time at the NBA’s 75th Anniversary.

The NBA announced that in 2022, it will award the Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy which is named after Larry.

3. Kurt Vonnegut

He was a well-known writer and humorist. Kurt has written five plays, and has published fourteen novels as well as five non-fiction works, and three short story collections.

Kurt has won numerous awards over the course including the International Fantasy Award, Hugo Award for Best Novel twice, Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame, and the Prometheus Hall of Fame award.

In 2011, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library opened which is known for being one of the most famous and widely explored places in Indianapolis.

4. Colonel Sanders

He was an American businessman known for founding the famous fast-food restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken. The company rapidly expanded with over 600 locations which was a good thing for the company but were overwhelming for Colonel.

After he sold the company in 1964, he remained the symbol of KFC. He would travel to several states on the company’s behalf and film many TV commercials and appearances.

He created the Colonel Harland Sanders Charitable Organization before his death. 

5. Mike Epps

He was born on November 18, 1970, and is known for his role in Next Friday and its sequel Friday After Next. Mike has grown to fame through the films The Hangover, Open Season 2, The Hangover Part II, and Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.

Mike is currently starring in the Netflix show The Upshaws which premiered on May 12, 2021, and is currently in its third season.

6. Jenna Fischer

Regina Marie Fischer, famously known as Jenna, was born on March 7, 1974. She is known for her role in the sitcom The Office. She earned a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award.

Jenna announced that she would be cohosting a weekly The Office rewatch podcast together with Angela Kinsey. The podcast has had guests from the series including Rainn Wilson, Oscar Nunez, and John Krasinski. The podcast also introduced the producers/directors from The Office like Ken Kwapis, Paul Feig, and Greg Daniels.

In 2023, Jenna announced to play Mrs. Heron in the Broadway musical Mean Girls which is based on the 2004 film.

7. Brendan Fraser

He is a Canadian-American actor who made his debut in Dogfight, in 1991, but he didn’t get a breakthrough until 1992 with the comedy Encino Man and the drama School Ties.

Brendan has starred in the films With Honors, George of the Jungle, The Mummy Trilogy, The Quiet American, and Crash. However, in 2021 announced that he will be part of the Killers of the Flower Moon cast, and comedy film Brothers. 

In 2020, he received the Heart of Abilis Award, together with his wife Afton Smith, for his support and fundraising work.

8. Dylan Minnette

He is known for his role as Clay Jensen in the Netflix drama series 13 Reasons Why. However, he is recognized for his roles in the television shows Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Aside from acting, Dylan is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the American alternative rock band Wallows. The band has released four singles on Apple Music and Spotify. In 2022, they performed at Coachella.

Dylan was cast as Wes Hicks in the fifth Scream film in September 2020.

9. Adam Lambert

He is an American singer who has sold over 3 million albums and 5 million singles worldwide. His first album peaked at number three on the U.S. Billboard 200. The single Whataya Want from Me earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Adam founded the non-profit Feel Something Foundation in 2019. The foundation focuses on supporting organizations and projects that disproportionately impact the LGBTQ+

10. Shelley Long

She is an American actress who gained fame for her portrayal of Diane Chambers on the show Cheers. Her performance on the show earned her five Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe Awards. 

She has starred in numerous films including Night Shift, Hello Again, Troop Beverly Hills, Dr. T & the Women, A Very Brady Sequel. and Outrageous Fortune.

Shelley is known for her recurring role as DeDe Pritchett on the ABC comedy series Modern Family.
