James woods is one of the best American actors who is famously known for films, stage, and television production.  

James’s career started in various minor roles on and of-Broadway. He appeared in a film called The Trial of the Catonsville Nine in 1972 together with Sam Waterston and Michael Moriarty on Broadway.

James Woods won a Theatre World Award in 1972 for his performance in Moonchildren.

Woods was born in Vernal, Utah in 1947. He had a brother who was ten years younger than him.

Woods’s father, Gail Peyton Woods, work for the army as an intelligence officer but died in 1960.

James Woods’s mother, Martha A.  Worked in a preschool. After her husband’s death, she later married Thomas E. Dixon.

In Indictment: The McMartin Trial in 1995, James Woods acted as Defense Attorney for Danny Davis. The film was originally made on television and was aired on HBO. The film was based on the true story of the McMartin preschool trial.

2. James Woods Preferred Acting Career over Surgeon Career

Initially, James Woods stated on Inside the Actors Studio he was to become an eye surgeon. He was enrolled as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He became a member of the student theatre Dramashop at the institution. He acted while also directing various numbers of plays. In 1969 he decided to drop out of Massachusetts Institute of Technology ( MIT) only one semester before his graduation because he preferred an acting career over an eye surgeon career.

James started getting small movie roles in the early 1970s. Roles such as  Elia Kazan’s The Visitors.  He also acted as Barbra Streisand’s boyfriend in The Way We Were.

Through a ruling,  the court permitted Woods to pursue his lawsuit against the Twitter users.  However, in 2016, the appeal of the defendants was dismissed.

8. He Won His First Primetime Emmy Award in 1987
