Paul Stanley was born on January 20, 1952, in Upper Manhattan, New York City. Both of Paul Stanley’s parents are Jewish.

He is an  American musician and singer who is the co-founder, frontman, rhythm guitarist, and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Kiss. He is the writer or co-writer of many of the band’s most popular songs. 

Stanley’s right ear was misshapen from a birth defect called microtia. Despite his hearing problem, Stanley enjoyed listening to music, and he watched American Bandstand on television. His favorite musical artists included Eddie Cochran, Dion, and the Belmonts, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. However. He had reconstructive surgery at age 30 in 1982.

In April 2014, Stanley published his memoir, Face the Music: A Life.  In the memoir, Stanley, who is Jewish accused former bandmates Ace Frehley and Peter Criss of antisemitism.

Stanley learned to sing in harmony with his family. He was given a child’s guitar at age seven.

1. His Mother came from a Family that Fled Nazi

Paul Stanley’s mother came from a family that fled Nazi Germany to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and then to New York City. Moreover, his father鈥檚 parents were from Poland.

Paul  Stanley was born with a Condition of level  3 Microtia. This made him deaf in his right ear.

However, he had surgery back in 1982. A cartilage from his ribs was used to reconstruct his ear. Nevertheless, he has difficulties in hearing. Amazingly,  this condition does not block his ability to rock out.

鈥淚 hear music the way I hear it. It鈥檚  normal  to me but it鈥檚 not the way you hear music.鈥� He said in one of the interviews on his website.

Interestingly, of the condition, Stanley is an ambassador for Canadian  Charity  AboutFace. This is by providing support to people with facial differences.

3. He Turned to Music to Escape  from his Trouble  Family

Stanley鈥檚 mother was overbearing and his father was secretive.  Moreover, his sister was troubled one, Julia. Her mental illness led to substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.

This made Stanley turn to music for Escape.  He reveled in the sounds of Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Little Richard, and the popular doo-wop groups of the day. But it was The Beatles鈥� legendary appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show that inspired the loner to take up songwriting as a hobby and career.

Before  Kiss, Stanley was in a local band. The band was known as Rainbow.  Moreover, he was a Member of Uncle  Joe and Post War Baby Boom.

He was also a member of the Simmon鈥檚 band Wicked Lester in the early 1970s. However, this band later fell apart.

However,  together with the other members of the Kiss band, they have released several albums. Their self-titled debut album was in February  1974.

In 2015, Stanley established Paul Stanley’s Soul Station. This is a tribute band playing a mix of soul oldies from the 1960s and 1970s with original songs in the same style. Paul Stanley’s Soul Station released its first album in 2021, along with its lead single, the original “I, Oh I.”

5. He Always Hated His Birth Name

Stanley鈥檚 real name was Stanley Bert Eisen. However, he hated his name. This is because, during  his upbringing, he was taunted 鈥渇or his Jewish heritage and ear-warped microtia.鈥� After 20 years of using his real name, Stanley had the idea of changing his name not only for market purposes but also the hate he had for the real one.

He was inspired by Paul McCartney and Pauline  Rodgers.  He legally changed his name to Paul Stanley.

6. He Starred in a Toronto Production  of the Phantom of the Opera

In 1999, Stanley starred in a Toronto production of The Phantom of the Opera. He played the role of the Phantom. Moreover, He appeared in the musical from May 25 to August 1, and again that year from September 30 to October 31, 1999, closing the show’s ten-year run in Toronto.

In October 2011, Stanley had surgery on his vocal cords.  “I hold myself to a higher standard than others do. With that in mind, I wanted to remedy a few minor issues that come with 40 years of preaching rock ‘n’ roll.”

In addition. Stanley had two hip-replacement surgeries. One was after the  “Rock the Nation” tour in October 2004. The second was in December 2004 after complications arose from the first surgery.

In 2005, he announced that he will require a third hip surgery in the future. He regards the degeneration of his left hip as partly the product of thousands of shows performed in platform boots since the early 1970s.

8. His First  Wife Files For Divorce After Nine Years of Marriage

His first wife was actress  Pamela Bowen. However, she filed for Divorce after nine years of marriage. They both have one son, born in June 1994.

However, in November,19,2005, He married a longtime girlfriend, Erin Sutton. The marriage took place at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pasadena, California. The couple had a son in September 2006, a daughter in January 2009, and a daughter in August 2011

In 2006 was inducted into the Long Island Music  Hall of fame. He also Bagged the Showman of the Year Award of the Classic Rock Awards.

 Amazing, 2009 Stanley won the classic  Gold Telly Award for his concert film One Live Kiss in 2009. He also won the Sound Partners Lifetime Achievement Award from the House Research Institute
