Julienne Alexandra Hough is an American dancer, actress and singer who joined the cast of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars as a professional dancer and won two seasons with her celebrity partners. She was born on 20th July 1988 in Orem, Utah as the youngest of five children in a Mormon family. Her family is made up of renowned people as her father, Bruce was chairman of the Utah Republican Party twice and her mother is Marianne Hough.

Derek Hough, the brother of Julianne is also a professional dancer who they trained together as young children. Julianne has three older sisters; Sharee, Marabeth and Katherine. Another amazing thing about their family of Julianne is that all four of her grandparents were dancers.

Julianne Hough began dancing competitively at the age of nine. At the age of 10, her parents were divorced which made them send Julianne and Derek to London. In London, the two lived with their coaches Corky and Shirley Ballas.

Derek and Julianne were tutored by the Ballases alongside their son Mark. Later on, Julianne and her brother received training in song, theatre, gymnastics, and several forms of dancing at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.

1. Julianne was Born Into a Renowned Family, Her Grandparents were Dancers

Julianne is the youngest of five children in her Mormon family. Her father, Bruce Hough was the chairman of the Utah Republican Party. Her family is made up of highly talented personnel including her grandparents.

Derek Hough, her brother is also a professional dancer. To make it interesting, Hough鈥檚 grandparents were also dancers. Julianne is also a second cousin of musicians Riker, Rydel, Rocky and Ross Lynch from their maternal grandmothers being sisters.

2. She Moved to London at the Age of 10 to Study after Her Parents Divorcing

At the age of nine, Julianne Hough began her career in competitive dancing. At 10, her parents were divorced which made her and Derek move to London to live and study with their coaches, Corky and Shirley Ballas.

Corky and Shirley Ballas guided Derek and Julianne alongside their own son Mark who formed a great team. Julianne and her brother received more training at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. They were trained in theatre, gymnastics, song and several forms of dance.

3. Julianne Formed Her Pop Music Group Alongside Derek & Mark

In London, Julianne Hough got more training alongside her brother and Mark Ballas. The trio got a good attachment to what they were good at a very tender age.

At the age of 12, Julianne Hough, Derek Hough and Mark Ballas formed their pop trio known as 2B1G which meant 2 Boys, and 1 Girl. 2B1G performed at dance competitions across the United Kingdom and the United States as well as showcasing in a UK television show.

Julianne Hough and her team continued impressing with their dancing skills which gave them a huge fan base. At the age of 15, Julianne became the youngest and only American dancer to win both the Junior World Latin Champion and International Latin Youth Champion at the Blackpool Dance Festival. She later returned to the United States where she attended the Las Vegas Academy and Alta High School.

5. Hough Won Two Seasons of the US Edition of Dancing with the Stars

At the age of 18, Julianne was one of the Million Dollar Dancers in the 2006 ABC game show called Show Me the Money. Partnering with Olympic gold medal-winning speed skater Apolo Ohno, Julianne Hough won season four of the United States edition of Dancing with the Stars.

The win made Julianne the youngest professional dancer to win on this program. On 27th November 2007, Julianne partnered with three-time Indianapolis 500 Champion H茅lio Castroneves. They became winners of season five.

On 18 March 2014, Julianne Hough and Derek announced their summer tour of over 40 cities across the United States and Canada. They called this tour 鈥淢ove Live on Tour鈥. The tour included dancing and singing from both of them and had a group of dancers employed by the Houghs who earned their slots through auditions.

The sold-out tour started on 25th May 2014 in Park City, Kansas and came to an end in Los Angeles on 26th July 2014. This was a successful adventure in which they had successful ticket sales and several sold-out venues.

7. Her First Country Music Single was a Hit Used to Raise Money

Julianne Hough is multi-talented in dancing, acting and singing. At the beginning of her career, she concentrated on dancing and later on singing.

Her first country-music single, Will You Dance With Me was released to iTunes and also on Walmart in May 2007 which was used to raise money for the American Red Cross. This song was placed at number 100 on the Billboard Pop 100 chart which earned him a contract with Universal Group Nashville.

Julianne has never hidden her private life and love life. She dated fellow Country singer Chuck Wicks from August 2008 to November 2009. They broke up after a mutual understanding that inspired Julianne’s song 鈥業s That So Wrong?

From April 2010 to March 2013, Julianne Hough dated Ryan Seacrest. In February 2014, Julianne began dating NHL player Brooks Laich. The two announced their engagement on 18th August 2015 and got married on 8th July 2017. However, they separated in 2020 and finalised their divorce on 22nd February 2022.

9. Her Blackface Halloween Costume Attracted Controversies

Julianne has never stayed away from controversies which seem to be following her always. In October 2013, she attracted controversy when she donned blackface as part of her Halloween costume.

This depicted Uzo Aduba鈥檚 character Suzanne 鈥楥razy Eyes鈥 Warren from the Netflix comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black. Julianne later apologised by stating, 鈥淚 realise my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologise.鈥

10. Julianne had Two Medical Issues which were Sorted out in Hospital

On 27th October 2008, Julianne felt abdominal pains during a performance which required medical attention. She has rushed to the hospital had surgery to have her appendix removed and got well.

In 2008, Julianne Hough was diagnosed with endometriosis. She went public with her condition to help de-stigmatize the conditions surrounding the disease.
