Heeresgeschichtliches Museum is also known as the Military Historical Museum, and as the name suggests, it hosts history’s most significant military artifacts. This museum will take you to various war times- envision looking at the actual car that Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot to death, marking the start of World War 1! It is rich in some of history’s most significant military artifacts.

The museum boasts a ‘tank garden’ in which combat tanks that date from as far back as the Soviet Period to date can be found, with live demonstrations scheduled in the summer. Here you will also see collections of weaponry, armaments, badges of honor, and medals.

As with every war, besides the medals and heavy machinery showcasing military prowess, there is the gory side. This museum also has on display blood-soaked uniforms and battle-scarred helmets. Here you will see without a doubt proof of Nazi brutality. Definitely not for the fainthearted.
