While I don’t have any tattoos myself, I definitely hope to get one in the future. It’s for that reason that I’m always on the hunt for the best tattoo salons around! Pair that with the fact that most of my friends have tattoos that they got in Paris, I can confidently say that I’ve done my research on where to get ink in the city.

If you’re reading this article, maybe you’re planning to get a tattoo for the first time, or maybe you’re just interested in adding to your collection. Either way, read on for my top picks for where to get an unforgettable tattoo in Paris!

Tin-Tin Tatouages

https://www.instagram.com/p/BsqqTJfgjIr/

Tin-Tin Tatouages is a bit of a legend here in Paris. Have you ever heard of the major tattoo exhibition the ? It’s a gathering of thousands of tattoo artists eager to show off their stuff to Parisians and others who come to see the exhibition from around the world. Well, even if you haven’t heard of it, after a quick Google search you can see for yourself the amazing artists that have been featured there!

The artist behind Tin-Tin Tatouages is responsible for organizing the exhibition. Thats not all: he is considered to be the pioneer of tattooing in France, and is also responsible for creating the National Union of Tattoo Artists in France.

Today, Tin-Tin is joined by a group of 8 other tattoo artists at his salon located in Pigalle, and as you can imagine has a very long waiting list. Please note that as a rule, if you’d like to get a tattoo here you must go in person to make an appointment to chat with an artist regarding your wants and needs.

Les Maux Bleus

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuS73_zBClQ/

Les Maux Bleus is the creation of 3 tattoo artists with 3 different defining styles. Carin Silver gets her inspiration from nature, Sixo Santos has a more graphic style, and Carlo Amen’s creations combine color and thick black lines. All three artists are amazingly talented, so no matter your wants and needs you’ll find what you’re looking for here!

The salon is located in the heart of Paris in a hidden courtyard which boasts a glass ceiling, the perfect location to get a beautiful tattoo, in my opinion!

Body Staff

I already mentioned that many of my friends in Paris have tattoos. Well, the majority of them have had them done at Body Staff!

Located a little outside of the city in the town of Vincennes, Body Staff is known around the city as an excellent salon to head to. The shop has a few artists that are there all year round, and they also love inviting other artists from around the world to set up shop for a few weeks at a time.

The staff is friendly, the salon is clean, there is a great ambiance, and their prices are a lot lower in comparison to many shops in Paris, likely due to their location outside the city limits.

Vincennes is a short metro ride away from the center of Paris, and the journey is totally worth it!

La Peau Dure

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuG8_z1BKfr/

La Peau Dure was founded by owner Thongsavanh Sirisouk, who after years of working for major fashion houses as a jewellery designer, decided to get back to his roots by working in illustration. This is actually one of the reasons I’m so impression by tattoo artists: that they are artists, first and foremost.

The style at Le Peau Dure is definitely minimalist, with most, if not all, of the tattoos coming out of the salon done in black and white lines. Sirisouk is mostly inspired by nature and animals. His designs can be described as poetic, and they truly are beautiful!

Bleu Noir

Located in the 18th arrondissement not far from the metro station Abbesses, Bleu Noir is a cult name in the world of Paris tattoo salons. Not only is it a tattoo salon, the location also features small exhibitions of local artists looking to show off their talents.

The space has a minimalist design which goes along well with the style of the artists. The artists at Bleu Noir are very particular about what sort of tattoos they design and give, so head to their website to see if their artists styles correspond to what you’re interested in!

La Mine

La Mine Tattoo shop is one of the lesser known salons on my list, but that doesn’t mean they are any less talented!

The artists at the shop, in particular founder Lamine, are known for their gentleness and kindness, two things that are essential when trusting a tattoo artist! After all, this is something that you will have on your body for the rest of your lives!

The style at La Mine is simple, but beautiful nonetheless. Their line work is impeccable and I’m always impressed with what they post on Instagram!

Again, I can’t stress enough the warm and friendly vibes you’ll feel the moment you step into this shop. La Mine is an excellent choice, especially if you are someone that is getting a tattoo for the first time.

Karissa Lyttle

I am personally a huge fan of scouring Instagram to find the latest and greatest tattoo artists in Paris. There are a ton of artists that do amazing work, but do not belong to a particular salon. They can only be found through word of mouth or through their Instagram profiles.

My favorite is an Irish girl who has been living in Paris for just as long as I have named Karissa Lyttle. She is an amazingly talented artist – and also happens to be one of my closest friends!

Check out her profile , and to find more independent artists like her, search the hashtags and ! Some of my other favorites include  and .

Abraxas Tattoo

Abraxas located in the heart of Paris immediately behind the Pompidou Center is not your typical tattoo-piercing studio. As soon as you walk in, you’re transported to a jewelry store. The location has also been tastefully outfitted, putting an end to the gloomy and mysterious cellars once and for all.

This exquisite boutique with its cut stone walls draws a diverse clientele: visitors, locals, teenagers (always with parental permission), addicted sixties, but also clubbers or fetishists, in short, a colorful mix that is always satisfied.
