In the Bible, Christians are shown that God created humanity in his own image and called it “very good” This is evidence that our outward look does give us value. I strongly believe that what should matter are our characteristics instead of the beauty that is described by the world. The word of God urges us to not be consumed by outward adornment like jewelry.

I have seen a number of bible verses that emphasize wholeness and self-worth are portrayed in terms of being cleansed and healed both physically and spiritually. For example in Luke 17:11-19, Jesus cured the leapers. This shows that our worth doesn’t change in God’s eyes, whether we are sick or have physical imperfections, we still love us all the same.

Either way, the key message of these verses is that human dignity and self-worth come from being made in God’s image thus true beauty shines from within. The light from Jesus Christ in us makes us more beautiful than we can imagine.

1. Genesis 1:27

The verse says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This is a well-known verse that speaks to the inherent dignity and value of all human beings. You are not your own.” Through this verse, we can see that we fully belong to God because he sees our future and knows what is best for us. God created us in his own likeness in order for us to become better than we were before. However, in order for us to appreciate what God is doing to improve us, we have to dedicate ourselves to His word.
