There are so many talented black actors and is not easy to choose the best among them. Hollywood is a big industry that holds more than a hundred actors.

Remarkable black actors are actors who have made significant contributions to the world of film and television. They deliver amazing performances as well as pave the way for upcoming actors.

We have a wide list of remarkable black actors but we have only discussed 35 black actors over 60 years in this article, including Morgan Freeman, and Samuel. L. Jackson, Billy Dee Williams, Willy Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, and Giancarlo Esposito among others.

He started acting in 1972 and since then he has done amazing work such as Pulp Fiction which earned him a BAFTA Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

3. Eddie Murphy

We can鈥檛 talk of remarkable black actors and not mention Eddie Murphy. He is an American actor and comedian. His sketch comedy on television known as Saturday Night Live made him popular.

 Eddie featured in a comedy film, 48 Hrs which was a success and he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performances. Other notable works include Trading Places, the Beverly Hills Cop series, and The Nutty Professor among others.

4. Billy Dee Williams

Billy Dee Williams was born on April 6, 1937, in New York City, U.S. He has been in the entertainment industry since 1943 and is still active to date. Billy’s first debut was in 1959 in The Last Angry Man film.

He gained prominence after appearing in the television movie Brian鈥檚 Song which earned him an Emmy nomination for Best Actor. Throughout his career, Billy has appeared in more than 70 films.   

5. Danny Glover

Whitaker has received various accolades throughout his career such as A British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

8. Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is a black American actor, producer, and director born on December 28, 1954. He joined the entertainment industry in 1975 and is active to date. Denzel has been doing amazing work hence he has received several awards such as 3 Golden Globe Awards, Tony Awards, and 2 Academy Awards among others.

He began his acting in theatre. From 1982 to 1988, he featured in the St. Elsewhere drama series which made him popular. Other successful films he starred in include Cry Freedom, A Soldier鈥檚 Story, and Glory.

Alfre Woodard is an American Actress well-known for showing strong-willed and dignified roles on stage. She was ranked as one of 鈥楾he 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century鈥 in 2020 by The New York Times.

The actress is currently 70 years old and has been in the industry for more than 5 decades. Mario Van Peebles is a well-known Mexican-American actor and film director. He was born on January 15, 1957, in Mexico City. He is the son of Melvin Van Peebles, who was an American actor, writer, filmmaker, and composer, and Maria Marx. Van has followed in his father’s footsteps and he is one of the successful actors we have today.

He is well-known for starring in the Heartbreak Ridge film in 1986. Other of his works include Children of the Night, Hotshot, The Facts of Life Down Under, The Child Saver, Identify Crisis, and Blue Bayou.

12. Pam Grier

Pam Grier is an American actress and singer. She is over 60 years old as of 2023. She is one of the most remarkable actors we have in the acting industry. Since 1970, for more than 5 decades she has been active and giving it all to the entertainment industry.

James was born with a childhood stutter and he says acting and poetry help him to overcome the disability. He began acting in 1953 and is currently 92 years old and very active despite being old.

14. Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg also known as Caryn Elaine Johnson. She is a famous American actor, comedian, and television personality born in 1955 in New York City.

17. Debbie Allen

Throughout her career, Allen has been featured in many successful films such as The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, Ragtime, Blank Check, Everything鈥檚 Jake, The Painting, Tournament of Dreams, and A Star for Rose among others.

It is remarkable to know that Allen has been nominated 20 times for an Emmy Award and won five Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, and a Golden Globe Award. 18. Phylicia Rashad

Phylicia Rashad is a black actor from the United States of America. She is popularly known for her role in The Cosby Show as Clair Huxtable from 1984 to 1992 and earned her Emmy Award nominations back in 1985 and 1986.

It is remarkable to note that Rashad became the first black actress to win the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play in 2004 in the film, A Raisin in the Sun. In 2022, she was lucky to win her 2nd Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play after starring in Skeleton Crew.

24. Spike Lee

Spike Lee officially known as Shelton Jackson 鈥漇pike鈥 Lee is currently 66 years old. He is an American black actor known for his remarkable works. Throughout his career, Lee has won several awards such as two Primetime Emmy Awards, an A BAFTA Award, an Academy Award, a Student Academy Award, and two Peabody Awards among others.

Spike founded a production company in 1979, 40 Acres, and a Mule Filmworks. The company has produced about 35 films since 1983.

26. Ice-T

Tracy Lauren Marrow famously known by his stage name Ice-T is an American actor, songwriter, and producer. He is currently 65 years old as of 2023. In the 1980s when Ice joined the industry, he played small parts in films like 叠谤别补办颈苍鈥 and 叠谤别补办颈苍鈥2: Electric Boogaloo.

Later he secured major roles in New Jack City in 1991 being the first role. Since 2000, Ice secured a role in a police drama, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, making him the longest-running male series actor in history according to Deadline.com.
