Carol is a Christmas love story about two women named Carol and Therese. It takes place in New York City in the 1950s. Therese works in a store and Carol comes in to shop before Christmas. Therese helps Carol pick out a gift for her daughter. They start spending more time together and a romance begins, even though the relationship is unusual at the time.

The movie shows beautiful scenes of New York at Christmas time. It also shows the challenges of being different. Carol and Therese find love and acceptance during the holiday season.

It’s a Wonderful Life is about a man named George Bailey. He is a good man who helps people in his town. But he runs into money problems and thinks his family would be better off without him. An angel named Clarence shows George what the town would be like if he was never born. George sees that he really has a wonderful life. He helped so many people over the years.

Without him, the town is completely different. George realizes that his life has a purpose. The movie takes place at Christmas time. George’s big moment happens on Christmas Eve. It shows that holidays are for appreciating your family and what you have. 

10. Little Woman (1994)

The movie Little Women is about four sisters named Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. It takes place during the time of the Civil War in America. The girls grow up together with their mother, called Marmee, in Massachusetts. Even though they are poor, they try to help others during the holidays. They sell their breakfast so another family can have a nice Christmas.

The girls are kind and stick together through good and bad times. They appreciate simple things like singing together and spending time as a family. He almost shoots his eye out but it turns out okay. The movie shows Ralphie’s hopeful Christmas wish and his funny family.

15. Happiest Season (2020)

Happiest Season is about a woman named Abby who plans to propose to her girlfriend Harper.  The movie won the GLAAD Media Award in April 2021. Abby and Harper go to visit Harper’s family for Christmas. But Abby finds out Harper has not told her parents she is gay. Abby has to pretend she and Harper are just friends. Abby feels bad but keeps Harper’s secret.

Abby learns what is important when Harper’s sister is kind to her. In the end, Harper tells her parents the truth. The movie has good jokes and shows how family holidays can be hard. Happiest Season shares the message to be yourself and spread joy. 

16. While You Were Sleeping (1995)

While You Were Sleeping is about a woman named Lucy. She works at a train station and has a crush on a man named Peter. On Christmas, she saves Peter when he gets hurt. At the hospital, his family thinks Lucy is Peter’s girlfriend. Lucy does not tell them the truth because she likes being part of a family. She falls in love with Peter’s brother Jack.

Batman Returns is about Batman fighting bad guys at Christmastime. The setting is Gotham City which is decorated with big Christmas trees and lights. Batman has cool vehicles like the Batmobile to chase the villains in the snowy city.
