Before joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks and her bandmate Lindsey Buckingham were part of a rock band called Fritz. In the late 1960s, Fritz toured and headlined music festivals in San Francisco, starring Jimi Hendrix.

When Stevie Nicks recalled the experience in an interview, she recalled, There were about 20 bands. It was you, there were 15 other bands, there was Jimi Hendrix.

5.Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were high school sweethearts

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were one of the most famous dating relationships. They were romantically involved while in Fleetwood Mac, but started dating in high school. The two met at Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, California. Lindsay Buckingham sang California Dreamin by The Mamas and The Papas to get Stevie Knicks’ attention. Together they formed their first band, Fritz, and the rest is history!

6. Stevie wrote her first song at 15

Always a prolific songwriter, Nicks began her career as a teenager. The song was called “I Loved and I Lost” and she wrote about her friend named Steve. Her parents gave her a guitar  and she wrote a little song about him. she told singer Lana Del Rey in an interview with V magazine.

6. Stevie was highly addicted to drugs

The singer and all of her band members were heavy users of cocaine during the group’s heyday in the 1970s. Nicks is estimated to have spent at least $1 million on cocaine throughout her life, though she kicked the habit after spending some time in rehab.

7. Nicks nearly went blind due to her lifestyle

Stevie Nicks has been open about her struggles with drugs and alcohol in the past, but at one point her wild partying style blindsided her. After the worldwide success of the album Rumors, the band decided to throw a party before going on tour.

The party lasted 48 hours, during which Stevie Nicks forgot to take out her contact lenses. Her cornea was worn from wearing contact lenses for a long time, but luckily the tour manager bandaged his vision to prevent permanent loss.

8. Nicks was mistaken to be a witch
